OC Friday Morning Hangover: The F'ing Zachpisode

YOU SON OF A BITCH ZACH! Ok, sorry, I'm letting my affection for Seth and Summer boil over into words. But for the lack of a better phrase, YOU SON OF A BITCH ZACH! The one guy who you thought was one of the few absolutely normal and kind guys in the show, and now he's apparently doing a major heel turn, weaseling Summer away from Cohen while throwing out creepy stares in Cohen's direction every time Summer is upset with her boyfriend. Now don't get me wrong here folks, Seth and Summer are still together, but I'm angry when things go south between them in the first place, which is basically every episode, so you can imagine the anger brewing deep inside me when some dude who isn't even a full time cast member is weaseling his way back into the picture. DITCH THE DAMN GRAPHIC NOVEL NOW COHEN! Am I the only one who remembers that Seth named his boat after Summer before he ever even talked to her? Or was on the brink of insanity when she was about to leave for Europe?

Let's see, what else happened? Oh yeah, the most anti-climatic kiss between Ryan and Marissa. Ever since Seth and Summer's upside down kiss in the rain, the producers have been angling at getting Ryan and Marissa back together and the best they can do is a two second kiss in the front seat of Sandy's car, Marissa initiated banter about how they can do better, then closing the episode with the druggie passed out girl from last episode apparently breaking into Trey's apartment and coming on to him again. Only this time I guess Trey is interested in more than "talking."

So if you haven't figured it out by now, I was right when I predicted that Trey didn't actually deal the drugs last week. That guy got busted on the beach in a sting masterminded and carried out by Ryan, Marissa and Sandy.

The trip to the wine tasting event that featured Kirsten and her new crush, Carter, led everyone on to believe that Kirsten would do the unthinkable, but when things looked gloomy, she decided it was time to go home. This might have been the best part of the episode.

The most unexpected part of the episode was when Julie was forseeing Caleb's divorce papers and visited her Ron Jeremy wannabe ex-boyfriend. Here's the shocking part, Lance offered to subtly kill Caleb so Julie and her girls wouldn't have any money worries and Julie passed it up, claiming neither of them are murderers. I was floored. And kind of confused when someone was snapping photos of the two of them kissing outside the much missed Mermaid Inn. Where has that motel been all season?

That about sums it up folks, at least until next week when The OC becomes The South Beach. I'm actually encourged by the somewhat frustrating previews because it seems as though everything they lead you to believe rarely comes true. The previews showing Cohen making an ass out of himself on spring break on stage with some girl and Summer seeing him on TV I'm guessing will actually turn for the better. And if the producers actually have Trey get it on with Marissa while Ryan is gone, I think I'll be more pissed off than if Kirsten cheated on Sandy. Ryan has been dumped on enough through two seasons, not that.

That's all for this week, be happy that The OC is on again in a week. But if you're still reading this, you'll notice the new section below. Read or don't, you're choice.

QUESTIONS FROM THE COUCH
1. Could Zach really become someone who purposely breaks up Seth and Summer so he can get back with Little Miss Vixon? All these characters are obnoxious in some way, but that would be a huge turn in character for that guy.

2. Did anyone else catch Summer's line at The Bait Shop referencing how it's the only place with more than enough tickets, tons of space and the band is not too loud for people to talk over? I think the producers must have heard about fans questioning how unrealistic of a club it was and took a dig at themselves.

3. Unless I'm totally wrong, Trey is 21 and this druggie girl that he's about to hook up with is 17. He better be awfully careful about exactly how interested he is.
