Friday Morning Quarterback: The Mallpisode

To be perfectly honest, no matter what happened in last nights episode of The OC, it all seemed fine and dandy by me after the last new episode in which we saw Seth and Summer re-unite, and Rebecca and Lindsay leave. However, I must admit that I grew nervous when Seth and Summer were bickering over the postcard that their long anticipated reunion would be one and done. Fortunately they made amends and seem as happy as they ever were throughout nearly two seasons of the show. (Thank you Josh Schwartz).

What I didn't anticipate was the Julie Cooper-Nichol as a former porn star twist. But to be honest, nothing she does surprises me much any longer. I was also very glad that the previews proved to be, what appears a bunch of false anticipation over Kirsten getting involved with Billy Donovan's character. It would seem after she put her ring on again at the end of the episode that there will be no more "Sandy and Kirsten and (insert name)" drama occuring on the show. That's ok Billy, we all loved you in the Rocketeer.

What I didn't understand was how in the world telling Ryan to come to the mall would get him to leave the bus station. Since when would Ryan be one to be lured to the mall? Addionally, how in the hell did all four of the characters get no service in a mall's back room? I simply wasn't buying that bit. But I guess for the sake of the plot of the show, I'll let it slide. I suppose that it is possible all four of them are Sprint suscribers and as I know all too well Sprint is, "not the building man's phone."

Well, it certainly looks like the producers are pushing the Ryan/Marissa reunion next. So we shall see where they take us in the next few weeks. Happy watching.

Favre back for at least one more season....maybe more

According to the AP, the state of Wisconsin can breath easy for awhile. Brett Favre has informed head coach Mike Sherman that he will return for the 2005 season, and possibly more should his own health hold up. Instead of rehashing info on the wire, I would direct you to www.packers.com to read the story and also the press release informing everyone that the team released S Darren Sharper, which should come as no surprise.

Horizon League Tournament Champs

Let me start by writing that if you wish to read a great piece on both UWM and Marquette written by Justin, head over to www.ourturnnext.blogspot.com. He did a great job discussing both programs. And since I feel JG has basically covered nearly everything I would have posted, I only have a few things to add.

The Horizon League Championship game at The Cell was again a great atmosphere, the largest crowd in UWM history. And thankfully, this year the Panthers pulled out a sluggish game. It was all too familiar to last years championship game played against UIC when free throws cost Milwaukee the game. Ironically, the Panthers couldn't hit a broad side of a barn from the line again, but a sunk freebie by Adrian Tigert proved to be the difference. Although the team played well below it's ability last Tuesday, UWM is a team no 4 through 6 seed wants to see show up on their bracket.

As far as MU is concerned. They will probably make the NIT for a second year, but believe me, they are not going anywhere. Honestly, I feel they are most likely going to qualify for the NIT based on past accomplishments and money. Does anyone honestly see Marquette as a legit threat to win the NIT? Didn't think so.

And to wrap up by simply commenting on all of the UWM-MU banter. My feeling is that with Diener, MU would beat UWM, no matter the venue. But after watching MU without him, the Golden Eagles honestly looked like a JV team trying to beat TCU's press. Mark Pancratz of Milwaukee would be a welcomed addition on Crean's squad in that regard. I have never seen a major college team so inept at just getting the ball past half court. I was almost surprised when they didn't turn the ball over down the stretch. Currently, I think there is little doubt that Marquette could arguably be blown out by UWM and it's press. Additionally, who would guard Joah Tucker? Steve Novak? Todd Townsend?

Enjoy the major conference tourney's and more importantly, enjoy The OC tonight.
